RE: question for the people of age.

Benntexas, we lost our 17 1/2 month old foster baby on 4 December 2003, and the holidays are, indeed, terribly hard. Her birthdays see me taking a balloon bouquet to the cemetery to place at her grave. I'm sure to passersby that must be a very strange sight, but it helps me get through the day. So, I think the party in honor/memory of Ann's birthday is a very sweet gesture, and I think she is smiling down on you. I believe people get busy with their lives and just don't "think" to check on the one who has lost a loved one. I think they think we should "get over it," but like DH told someone, "we will get through it, but we'll never get over it." You will be in my prayers this holiday season. Vickie

RE: Cabbage recipes???

I make what I call "MARIAN'S STEW," so-named after the woman who shared her recipe. 1 head cabbage, cut into large chunks 2-3 potatoes, peeled and cubed 4 carrots, peeled and cut into chunks 1 large onion, peeled and cut into chunks 1 green pepper, chut into large pieces 1 pound German sausage, sliced into slices salt/pepper to taste 1 cup water In large stock pot, place all ingredients and cook till potatoes and carrots are done (everything else should be done by this time). Serve with cornbread sticks, and it is "oh so good" (as Mr. Food would say). This is one of those recipes you can adjust amounts to make as much or little as desired. I usually use two large heads cabbage, more carrots, more sausage, and more onions than recipe calls for, because I prefer those ingredients. A couple of potatoes seems to multiply for some reason!! RE: Finally something on TV

The Unit was certainly worth waiting all summer for!! I am on pins and needles waiting for next week's show and the new identities of the families, and for that story-line to play out. Yes, it looks like a woman will be joining The Unit, and she is probably taking the place of our guy who was killed off last season. Vickie

Went to the Panhandle-South Plains Fair (Lubbock) three times this week and had the Shriners foot long corn dogs (once for me, three times for DH). I prefer super dogs. I DO love the Fair, though!! Vickie

RE: canned biscuits and cimamommon rolls?

Benntexas, my recipe is the same, but different. You take two cans of biscuits, dip each biscuit in melted butter/margarine, dip in mixture of cinnamon and sugar to coat, and place in round cake pan, overlapping slightly. The inside "ring" of biscuits overlap the opposite direction. Top with chopped nuts (probably 1/4-1/3 cup, I can't really remember), and bake according to can directions. Vickie

RE: Looked through my yearbook last night

There were 11 in my graduating class!!! DH had almost 500 in his graduating class. I grew up 60 miles from here; he grew up here, yet I usually see someone (here) from my little town, and he rarely sees anyone he went to school with. Enjoy your reunion!! Vickie
